Garlinghouse: 2026 Will Be a Phenomenal Year for Ripple

Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse has called 2026 a "phenomenal" year for the company as it witnesses a significant increase in transaction volumes and business activities.

The Ripple boss has emphasized that the company has witnessed a huge surge in its transaction volumes in the last year, showing the rising demand for its blockchain-based financial infrastructure.

Garlinghouse further reiterated his big plans for XRP as he foresees the crypto eventually becoming an institutional gold standard for crypto payment rails.

Nevertheless, Garlinghouse admitted that XRP may not necessarily be ideal for all financial transactions.

Ripple's future with XRP

Garlinghouse is clear that Ripple will continue to focus on XRP for cases where the crypto is clearly advantageous.

He stated that it makes good business sense for the company.

Garlinghouse argues that XRP doesn't necessarily need to be the solution for all the transactions that happen on Ripple's infrastructure to be commercially viable.

"We think that XRP is very efficient in some use cases. Probably not in other use cases. But that's ok," he said.

The Ripple CEO is more than okay with XRP being utilized for a small portion of customer transactions.

"That's great. That still means that I am getting some of the pie," he added.

"Sometimes I think people get a little fixated on how big the piece is and how big the pie is," he added.

With his remarks, Garlinghouse seems to suggest that Ripple's approach with XRP is a very pragmatic one. The company is focused on growing its business and finding cases where XRP can be truly beneficial.

Meanwhile, David Schwartz, Ripple's CTO emeritus and one of the co-creators of the XRP Ledger, has made a bold prediction for the future of blockchain technology.

Schwartz was asked about where he sees XRP and Ripple in 5 years. Schwartz sees mass retail adoption ahead.

Schwartz also foresees blockchain technology being just as prevalent and fundamental to life as the internet.

Ripple's huge Swell conference

Garlinghouse's positive outlook comes as Ripple is celebrating the 10th edition of its biggest event — the Swell conference in New York City from Oct. 27–29.

A lot of announcements have already come out of the event, showcasing Ripple's growing ambitions in the institutional finance sphere.

The big one includes U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent's appearance. He sat down with Garlinghouse to talk about the future of digital assets and the American financial system.

Ripple also announced a big partnership with Robinhood to bring more RLUSD stablecoin and infrastructure use cases. The partnership focuses on institutional settlement, prime brokerage, and treasury use cases.

The company also deepened its relationship with the banking giant BNY. The expanded collaboration includes digital asset custody and tokenized trade finance using XRP, RLUSD, and the XRP Ledger.

Also, the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency finally approved Ripple National Trust Bank's last regulatory hurdle.

On top of that, Coinbase has agreed to bring more RLUSD availability to the exchange's retail and institutional platforms.

All the announcements come with impressive growth numbers that Ripple has shared.

Per the company, Ripple is on its way to ending 2026 with roughly $900M in annualized product revenue. Also, Ripple has reported a 3x increase in the number of customers and partners that are using multiple products from Ripple's expanding product line.

The company's financial infrastructure is used by over 1,700 institutions, corporations, and enterprises.

With all the developments, it's no surprise that Garlinghouse is particularly bullish on Ripple's future as the company tries to carve out its spot in a rapidly changing financial services landscape.
